We spend a lot of time looking for resources for young athletes with growing bodies and demanding nutritional needs. But what about the athlete’s support system? We haven’t forgotten you!
AdvoCare 24 Day Challenge Kit
For the coaches and parents, we’ve found great success with AdvoCare’s 24-Day Challenge Kit.
The 24-day Challenge Kit is one of AdvoCare’s most unique products because it’s specially designed with a two phase system to cleanse and jumpstart your body’s metabolic processes. This can help you with a variety of goals, including weight loss, increased energy, body composition and a general feeling of wellness. Check it out on Amazon.com.
Unlike other quick-fix “diet” plans that can wreak havoc on your metabolism, this kit sets you up for a healthier lifestyle. The program is intended to be used with a more nutritional diet and exercise, not simply a drastic cut in calories. We’ve tried this product and have had great success, so we’re happy to share our “special find” with you.
Phase 1 – Cleanse Phase (Days 1-10)
In this phase, the goal is to help your body rid itself of toxic buildup. How did you get so many toxins? Quite simply (and rather unfortunately), just by breathing, eating and living.
There are more chemicals around than ever before. You may have undiagnosed food allergies or food sensitivities. You might be exposed to heavy metals like lead and mercury. You also might have an imbalance of the bacteria and fungus that naturally occur in and on the body. Although the body is designed to rid itself of toxins naturally, it can sometimes get completely overwhelmed with the work load.
Here is a list of symptoms you may experience due to chronic toxicity:
- Sleep problems
- Difficulty concentrating
- Food cravings
- Trouble losing weight
- Water retention
- Foul-smelling odors
- Muscle aches
- Joint pain
- Postnasal drip
- Excessive sinus problems
- Skin problems
- Canker sores
- Puffy, dark circles under the eyes
- Premenstrual syndrome
- Other menstrual Bloating
- Sinus congestion
So how does this kit help your body detoxify?
In Phase 1, you use three products.
This is actually a kit within a kit. The herbal cleanse comes in its own box and includes a fiber drink mix and two kinds of caplets: the Herbal Cleanse caplets and the ProBiotoic Restore Ultra caplets. Together these products work to facilitate the body’s natural toxin-riding processes. As an added bonus, the fiber drink mix, which you simply add to water, helps keep you fuller and more satisfied longer.
This is a product we’ve recommended for athletes as well, but it’s important for everyone, regardless of age or activity level, to include omega-3 fatty acids in their diet. Most of these fatty acids in OmegaPlex are found in fish, and the American Heart Association recommends eating 2 servings of fish per week. If you’re not eating that much fish, it’s crucial to get the omega-3s that help your heart, muscles, bones, skin, neurological system and immune system.
3) Spark Energy Drink Mix
Sometimes detoxifying can be a drag. Your body is working extra hard to cleanse itself, and you may find there’s not much energy leftover for the things you have to do every day. That’s where the sugar-free Spark energy drink mix comes in. It contains 21 vitamins and minerals, including the all-important B-vitamin complex that helps your body use its energy more efficiently. With the caffeine of an 8-ounce cup of coffee, this will give you the boost you need now, without the blood sugar crash later. The nutrients will help you have long-lasting energy, too.
Phase 2 – Max Phase (Days 11-24)
Now that your body is less toxic, it can better absorb nutrients and can jumpstart your metabolism. The goal of the Max Phase is to fuel your body in a way that allows it to adapt to your new healthy lifestyle.
You complete this phase with 3 products:
1) Metabolic Nutrition System (MNS)
This system helps provide energy and core nutrients while controlling your appetite. There are three levels of the MNS system depending on the amount of help you need controlling your appetite and the amount of energy boost you need. MNS Max 3 is the standard recommended level. If you need something more for appetite control, consider the MNS Max C. For more energy, look at the MNS Max E.
Whichever level you choose, the products are essentially the same. You’ll use the CorePlex multivitamin, the OmegaPlex omega-3 fatty acid supplement, and other similar nutritional supplements.
2) Meal Replacement Shake
This shake is formulated to satisfy your hunger with excellent nutrition without overindulgence. Each shake has 23 grams of protein, 24 grams of carbohydrates, 5 grams of fiber and 26 vitamins and minerals. They also contain half of your recommended daily allowance of calcium.
Lucky for us, AdvoCare developed these shakes in multiple flavors: Mocha, Berry, Vanilla, and Chocolate. The chocolate has found many fans on our team!
3) Spark Energy Drink Mix
This is the same drink from Phase 1. Use this once or twice a day to give you the quick boost yet long-lasting energy you need to power through the day.
How to maximize the efficacy of AdvoCare’s 24-Day Challenge
Please remember that this system is developed to work in conjunction with diet and exercise. We would not recommend a system that promised you the world while still letting you eat whatever you want in whatever quantities you felt like, because those products simply don’t work. We’re also not going to recommend a system that requires you to starve or deprive yourself. Those kinds of system can ruin your metabolism and put a lot of stress and strain on your body. Plus, you’d be miserable the whole time.
The 24-Day Challenge is not a “diet” plan. This is a healthy lifestyle jumpstart. It’s a “challenge” because it will challenge you to rethink and hopefully recalibrate how your daily habits are affecting your body. If you use it that way, you’ll see results.
